Carrie Danger

kathyVogel squareCarrie Danger is working on becoming a radio veteran one day, with over a decade in the business, it’s still a genuine passion you can hear through your speakers.

Her love for the craft started from a young age, listening to music and the local radio shows in her hometown of Clarksville, TN. Through the years, that fire has only grown with the magic of music and comradery on your daily commute or whatever activity you enjoy the radio to.

Tune in on your drive home weekdays 2-7pm and check out the Danger Zone weekdays at 6pm for the latest, from bands you know and love and some you might not have heard of.

International Louie Louie Day

Written by
Today is International Louie Louie day and I thought it would be nice to discuss a song that we all know and I’m sure appreciate in some form!  Written by Richard Berry in 1955, it was recorded by The Pharaohs and released in 1957.  Berry’s version tells of a seaman who journeys three days to Jamaica to visit his girl. A bartender, Louie, is given the story. Now as you know there are a TON of covers and I believe my favorites are Toots & The Maytals, Los Yesterdays, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and The Sandpipers.  Below is a…

Carrie Danger goes to the Home Opener

Written by
So as we know Friday was the Cleveland Guardians Home Opener against the Seattle Mariners. Before we get into the game let’s talk about the Man, the Myth, the Legend… John Adams. Cleveland’s beloved drummer!  Born in Cleveland Oct. 9 1971, John played drums in the marching and jazz band and eventually became the President of the Cleveland Blues Society.  With nearly 4,000 games under his belt, 1 team name change, 3 stadium name changes. (Indians/Guardians & Municipal Stadium/The Jake/Progressive Field)  John and his drum were witness to postseason success, World Series heartbreak and the absolutely ridiculous Ten Cent Beer…

Throwback Thursday - Yellowcard

Written by
It’s Throwback Thursday! Tonight we are going to highlight Yellowcard!  Let’s get started, the band was formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida. Their first album released in 1999 ‘Where We Stand’ had a lot harder punk sound than Ocean Avenue… I was unaware of this and let’s say it was unexpected but I LOVE IT! Heavy on the baselines and very much Florida-Punk Rock with some hints of ska. Feels like I’m about to light up with my buds on the pier.  Some favs ‘Lesson Learned’, ‘Doesn’t Matter’ and ‘Uphill Both Ways’.  Then we see a BIG shift in the…

Roller Derby Part 3

Written by
Picking up where we left off… the sport had come to a halt so Seltzer sold the rights to the International Roller Derby League to Roller Games, another league based in LA. They lasted a few years longer even holding a bout at Madison Square Garden between the Tokyo Bombers and the Chiefs that drew a very large crowd but again by 1975 Roller Games had also gone by the wayside. There were a few attempts to bring it back in the 80’s and 90’s but it wasn’t until 2001 when a group of women in Texas revived the sport.…

Roller Derby Part 2

Written by
Picking up where we left off… In 1935 the first Transcontinental Derby took place with 20,000 people watching the action. Two-person teams, one man and one woman would skate 57,000 laps on a flat track. Totalling roughly 2,700 miles, on average a single marathon lasted 3 weeks.  Realizing that this is a bit repetitive, Seltzer and sportswriter Damon Runyon created the structure of roller derby.  So now the game has taken on rules and regulations and because I get asked this frequently… what are the rules?!  Here is a short video explaining, enjoy.  It’s a physical and mental game to…

Roller Derby Part 1

Written by
Over the weekend I was able to attend a Roller Derby Fundraiser for a local young team named Crooked River Roller Derby, a team comprised of 7-17 year olds who love to skate! I asked the skater (Panic Attack) I was there to support their go to song to get pumped for her bouts and she said “I like anything from the Gorillaz or ‘No Role Modelz’ by J. Cole” So as I was inspired by the youth and feeling nostalgic for my quad skating days, I thought we could look into the amazing sport!  I did roller derby for…

Music and MLB Opening Day!

Written by
Major League Baseball opening day was yesterday (March 30th) and the Guardians opening day is Friday April 7th.  So let's talk music and baseball! We start with the Pride of Progressive Field, the beat keeper, the man to get your feet stomping, the one that kept your spirits high when the team might be down... The Legend, John Adams (1951-2023) John will always be respected and missed and quite frankly Guardians games won't be the same.  When it comes to stadium events, you NEED great music. Songs with a catchy hook, something to lift you up and keep you energized…

Throwback Thursday - Fall Out Boy

Written by
This week for Throwback Thursday we are going to talk about Fall Out Boy... if you couldn't tell from the title.  So let's dive right in. The band got their start in 2001 in Wilmette, Il. Launching their debut album "Take This To Your Grave" however the same year they released "Evening Out With Your Girlfriend" both of these albums are very much of the times with a much more hardcore punk. The elder emo in me is screaming RAWR =]. <--- that's my old lip ring there.  As the band grew in popularity we come to their 2005 album…

Danger Zone - The Regrettes

Written by
Tonight in the Danger Zone we will hear The Regrettes cover of Robyn's 2010 hit single 'Dancing on My Own'.  After listening to the original and the cover it's safe to say the band did the song justice. The band said about the song “We wanted to keep that energy going and give it our own creative spin and to make sure that we did the song justice by keeping its special identity with a lil ‘Regroots flavaaaa’ as we like to say.”  If you like the punk-indie Cali sound of this band here are a few other songs I think…

Long Drives, Music & Tattoos w/ Carrie Danger

Written by
Today I had the pleasure of driving 3 hours round trip to my previous town, Norwalk, Ohio. You may be thinking... where the hell is Norwalk? It's on the way to Cedar Point and Kalahari.  Anyway, the point of this visit was to get a tattoo touched up. Much success, thanks Liz at The Electric Pen in Milan!  I'm someone who grew up always on the road, long drives don't bother me at all. As long as I have great music or a true crime podcast, I'm solid. Today was filled with a bit of everything. The drive itself was…
