Carrie Danger

kathyVogel squareHey guys! Carrie Danger here and I’m the new evening host for 107.3 Alternative Cleveland.

My broadcasting journey started in 2010 in Lima, Ohio as a morning tech extraordinaire. In 2011 I was granted the opportunity to host the afternoon drive show on 95.3 WLKR in Norwalk, Ohio. For 6 years I was privileged to bring music, information, and smiles to the locals of the Firelands.

After an adventurous few years in North Carolina, I decided to move back to the Northeast Ohio and was welcomed back in at Elyria-Lorain Broadcast Company as board operator and weekend show host. During this time I also hosted “Carrie-Okee” at the local pub!

Fast forward, I find myself excited to bring you the latest in Alternative music and events around our community.

In my down time you can find me reading, hanging with my two awesome cats, and of course listening to music while doing yard work.

Records & Earth Day w/ Carrie Danger

Written by
Tomorrow is Record Store Day & Earth Day so I will do my best to hit both topics for us!  First off, Record Store Day is a big deal for those that collect or just like to have timeless vinyl for the sake of their favorite band. So when did RSD get started?  This annual event began in 2007 and is typically held on the third Saturday of April and every black Friday. Many records are pressed and released specifically for RSD and distributed to shops that participate in the event. This year I am going to Blackbird Records in…

The Legend of 420 w/ Carrie Danger

Written by
As you know today is 420! The day we all know and some enjoy and honestly, any day of the week you can hear someone jokingly say “it’s 4:20!!” *add air horn sound*  I thought while you’re between rips and passes we could talk about where this “holiday” began.  Researching this I actually learned a lot so I hope you do too!  Many think it could be the amount of chemicals in marijuana some associate it with a tea time in Holland. However, according to the history channel it all started in 1971 when some college athletes, also known as…

Smoke em if you got em!  Maybe you are the type to throw on a movie like Half Baked, Grandma’s Boy, Pineapple Express, Up In Smoke or Friday.  Maybe you like to roll your own, turn on the music and relax while you pass it to the left.  Either way, I know I’m a day early BUT I figured we could get into some good jams for your smoke sesh tomorrow… or tonight… or whenever!  Here are a few doobie delights (thanks Alyssa) for your listening pleasure!        …

Let's Get Physical w/ Carrie Danger

Written by
So today is National Exercise Day and I actually wanted to talk about music and working out so what better time than now!  We all know that getting regular exercise, however that feels to you, is very important for longevity and mental health.  Maybe you love yoga, going on a walk or run, lifting… if you’re moving your body you're going to feel so good when you’re done. For me, when I get a great workout my mental health is on point.  Now for me, I have to have music on to get a solid workout. My music of choice…
Over the weekend I celebrated my 34th birthday with some of my favorite people. Among the many activities I attended the Punk Rock Flea Market out at the Summit Co. Fairgrounds.  What a fun experience! There were so many vendors and awesome people all gathered together. From art, to clothing, crystals and palo santos, animal bones and so much more.  My girls and I checked out all we could considering it was packed. Haley bought me palo santos and 3 beautiful prints, thank you Haley!  While there I was just filled with joy for everyone to be experiencing this either…

Let's Get Weird w/ Carrie Danger

Written by
Today is not only National Grilled Cheese Day but on this day in 1988 (35 years ago… I know wtf?). Alfred “Weird Al” Yankovic released his 5th album “Even Worse”.  This album featured parody hits including Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ as ‘Fat’, Tiffany’s ‘I think we’re alone now’ as ‘I think I’m a Clone Now’ and LaBamba as ‘Lasagna’.  Let’s jump in the time machine and go back to around 1997, my cousins and I (shoutout out Brett and Cody) decided to pop in a cd “Bad Hair Day” released March 12th 1996… as it began to spin in our boom…

International Louie Louie Day

Written by
Today is International Louie Louie day and I thought it would be nice to discuss a song that we all know and I’m sure appreciate in some form!  Written by Richard Berry in 1955, it was recorded by The Pharaohs and released in 1957.  Berry’s version tells of a seaman who journeys three days to Jamaica to visit his girl. A bartender, Louie, is given the story. Now as you know there are a TON of covers and I believe my favorites are Toots & The Maytals, Los Yesterdays, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and The Sandpipers.  Below is a…

Carrie Danger goes to the Home Opener

Written by
So as we know Friday was the Cleveland Guardians Home Opener against the Seattle Mariners. Before we get into the game let’s talk about the Man, the Myth, the Legend… John Adams. Cleveland’s beloved drummer!  Born in Cleveland Oct. 9 1971, John played drums in the marching and jazz band and eventually became the President of the Cleveland Blues Society.  With nearly 4,000 games under his belt, 1 team name change, 3 stadium name changes. (Indians/Guardians & Municipal Stadium/The Jake/Progressive Field)  John and his drum were witness to postseason success, World Series heartbreak and the absolutely ridiculous Ten Cent Beer…

Throwback Thursday - Yellowcard

Written by
It’s Throwback Thursday! Tonight we are going to highlight Yellowcard!  Let’s get started, the band was formed in 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida. Their first album released in 1999 ‘Where We Stand’ had a lot harder punk sound than Ocean Avenue… I was unaware of this and let’s say it was unexpected but I LOVE IT! Heavy on the baselines and very much Florida-Punk Rock with some hints of ska. Feels like I’m about to light up with my buds on the pier.  Some favs ‘Lesson Learned’, ‘Doesn’t Matter’ and ‘Uphill Both Ways’.  Then we see a BIG shift in the…

Roller Derby Part 3

Written by
Picking up where we left off… the sport had come to a halt so Seltzer sold the rights to the International Roller Derby League to Roller Games, another league based in LA. They lasted a few years longer even holding a bout at Madison Square Garden between the Tokyo Bombers and the Chiefs that drew a very large crowd but again by 1975 Roller Games had also gone by the wayside. There were a few attempts to bring it back in the 80’s and 90’s but it wasn’t until 2001 when a group of women in Texas revived the sport.…
