Happy Friday everyone!

Today is National Pizza Party Day and I think it’s safe to say… just about everyone enjoys this precious cuisine. Red sauce, white sauce, pepperoni, cheese… dare I say PINEAPPLE!

This reminded me of memories from days past such as the weekly skating parties at the local skating rink.

In my home town we had Magic Wheels. It was THE SPOT. In elementary and middle school they had a challenge for us, if your class had more participants you would win a pizza party.

It was cut throat, the determination, competitive spirit of us 5th graders… it was unmatched. Who would have guessed a bunch of army brats would be highly competitive. The amount of carpool scheduling that went into making sure we could all go was a skill we would indeed use later in life.

Don’t even get me started on the slow skate drama, wipe out and “congo line” to the Quad City DJ’s ‘C’mon ‘N Ride It’. Did I just unlock a core memory for you? I hope so.

Yes I know, this Pizza Party blog quickly turned into a skate night memory… it’s okay because it’s Friday.

Anyway, enjoy some tunes that take me right back to Magic Wheels and hopefully you back to your local skating rink.

Have a great weekend and take care of yourself!
Love, Carrie Danger

Yard Work Jamz w/ Carrie Danger

Written by

Hello all, as the weather has finally seemed to break into more steady nice weather… it’s time to get some yard work done!

So let’s talk about music that gets you stoked to mow the lawn, weed your garden or whatever is on your outside goal list.

As someone who loves to be outside either for leisure or manual labor, music is a must!

Of course I think it depends on your mood but here are a few songs that I really dig for my outside time.

P.S. Here is a friendly reminder to wear sunscreen and apply it often. Melanoma is one of the more serious cancers. So grab your super rad sun hat, put on your sunblock and keep your skin looking younger for longer and prevent melanoma.  Enjoy a photo of me after doing 5 hours of yard work last summer showing off my cool hat.

P.S.S. If you have tattoos, I’m sure you spent a lot on them, protect that investment.

Get out there and take care of yourself (skin too).
Love, Carrie Danger

Don't Believe In Ghosts and The Aquadolls!

Written by

Coming off of Blink-182, I can’t get enough of live alternative music! Yesterday we had the band Don’t Believe in Ghosts come into the studio. They traveled all the way from new york and even brought us pizza! Check our chat and their acoustic on-air performance of “Living Like This” below. We got to see them play at the Rialto Theatre in Akron last night, but you can go see them TONIGHT at The Foundry in Lakewood!

Another band that came into the studio was The Aquadolls! They are on their Spring Fling tour, making a stop at the House of Blues tonight! Opening for them is Detention, a local band you may have heard on Live & Local with Aaron Lux. We chatted about music, women in the industry, Freaky Friday, and much more. Check out our chat below and consider seeing them live TONIGHT!

Blink-182 w/ Carrie Danger

Written by

Hello all!

As you know there was a big concert at Rocket Mortgage last night. Blink-182 came to town and took all of us back to our younger years, it was incredible!

I was fortunate to be able to attend and hang out with Brady and Alyssa plus many more amazing people.

Brady CD Alyssa

Beauty School Dropout opened, sadly I didn’t see them BUT I heard they did fantastic.

Turnstile is a personal favorite of mine and of course I loved every second of their set! Sorry to those around me as I was screaming all the lyrics and living my best life.

Turnstile lights

Blink took the stage and WOW… that was an experience I am so thankful to absorb into my soul.

With 25 songs on the setlist, they played something for everyone!

Blink

They sang each song as if time was nonexistent. By the time the show was over it didn’t even occur to me that it was already 11.

At one point during the show Mark’s mom facetimed him, it was nice to enjoy that moment with him! It was also pretty rad to see Travis Barker hoisted on his platform in the air while he played!

All in all it was a fantastic experience and again, I feel so lucky to have the job I have and be able to get out there and enjoy live music as much as possible!

Rock on, soak up the live music when you can and take care of yourself!

BLINK-182 IS IN THE LAND

Written by

Blink-182 is coming to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse TONIGHT!

They’ve made the comebacks of all comebacks, getting the original group back together. And now, we get to relive our childhoods while rocking out to some newer music as well (still waiting on that new album Travis Barker promised they’d be releasing before the tour…).

While the show has been sold out for quite a while, you can still get resale tickets here.

But as we look to see what we can expect for tonight’s show, I have been reading reviews from other cities. They were in Chicago a few weeks ago, and one concert-goer wrote that despite Blink not being “known” for their live performances, “they proved they’ve matured and grown (in some ways) sounding tighter than ever with a thrilling performance that included pyro, towering stage props, and confetti.”

I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Musical Memories w/ Carrie Danger

Written by

Today I thought I would highlight Radiohead, I listen to them often and not only that but I won’t ever forget my friend who introduced me to them outside of ‘Creep’, ‘Karma Police’ and ‘High and Dry’.

Hop in my time machine and buckle in! *time machine sounds*

2009, 20 year old Carrie is hanging out with a musician friend Dean and he made me a mix cd of songs that were great! *to the youths… burning mix cds was a really great gesture for your friends!*

Anyway, on this cd there was a great variety of songs from The Roots to NERD to Radiohead and beyond. The Radiohead song he chose was from their album ‘In Rainbows’ and the song is ‘House of Cards’. I was entranced! I was familiar with Radiohead but WOW this sent me.

I fell in love completely with the band and ate up all of their albums.

To this day, ‘In Rainbows’ is my #1 choice followed by ‘The Bends’ and ‘Kid A’

There are a lot of great things out there but I will say it’s pretty rad when someone can make that much of an impact on you through the power of music!

Thanks buddy, he is the drummer for the band Red Wanting Blue, check them out!

As always, check your pie chart, take care of yourself!

107.3 Celebrates Mother's Day!

Written by

In honor of Mother’s Day this weekend, I got to have my mom, Jeannine do my show with me! She killed it as expected, and I am just waiting for the news that she’ll be taking my job.

If you’re still unsure how to treat your mom this weekend, Cleveland has so many things to offer! You could go on a hike with mom at the Holden Arboretum. Take her to the Cleveland Botanical Gardens to see the House Plant Exhibit and visit their special Mother’s Day Boutique! Or if she likes historic architecture, consider taking her down to Akron to see Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, where moms get a free tour this Sunday.

Learn fascinating animal parent facts, and look at all the fishes in the sea at the Greater Cleveland Aquarium. They’ve got Mother’s Day themed contests as well as extended hours this weekend. All Moms receive a parents pin when they arrive.

Maybe your mom would rather relax and lounge for a Mother’s Day Tea and Brunch at the Ritz-Carlton. If the Ritz isn’t your speed, maybe head to the Stone Oven Bakery for afternoon tea and cookie decorating! And if you want an extra unique Mother’s Day tea, the Emerald Necklace Tea Room and Inn has psychic readings!

Whatever you decide to do, have the best time with your mom, whether its biological, your chosen mom, or whoever nurtures you in life!

National Twilight Zone Day w/ Carrie Danger

Written by

Today is National Twilight Zone Day! So let’s dive into a very brief history.

The Twilight Zone is an American media franchise based on the anthology tv series narrated and hosted by Rod Serling.

As you know episodes are in various genres including science fiction, absurdism, dystopian fiction, suspense, horror and soooo many more.

Episodes would often conclude with a macabre or unexpected twist sometimes there is actually a moral to the story.

The first series was shot in all black and white and ran for 5 seasons from 1959 - 1964. There were actually 4 series of the show including Jordan Peele giving it a go from 2019-2020. Not only that, the show has led to many spin offs including graphic novels, movies, radio series and more.

So let’s celebrate by stepping into the 5th dimension!

I’m linking an episode that would terrify me if I experienced this as well as the trailer for Jordan Peele’s latest series.

Take care of yourself and keep it weird.

Words That Stick 2.0 w/ Carrie Danger

Written by

Today I thought I would give a follow up to yesterday’s blog about choosing your words wisely.

I was discussing this last night with a wise friend and he mentioned that most of the time the words that stick with us are throw away comments for that person that spoke them.

Meaning, not everyone is maliciously trying to hurt you. Most have no idea what they said was insensitive and impactful.

No matter what the intention of the comment directed at you, the next step is to either let it roll off your shoulders or do something for yourself to allow that comment to leave you and your mental space OR hold onto it for the worst.

It’s not always easy and we might not completely forget HOWEVER how we carry ourselves forward is the key to success.

Using my example yesterday “real runners don’t need water on hand” so how did I fix this? Well of course I tried a 5 mile without water, not for me… lesson learned. From there I decided I would take water and forget what that person said. It doesn’t affect me anymore as I am clearly still running and staying hydrated. If anything I used it as fuel to push harder and it's pretty funny after a while. Not to sound like a jerk but... at least I'm running and moving my body.

I appreciate that he pointed out that secondary part, it’s really important that we take responsibility for our responses and reactions.

You can’t expect you out of anyone else.

Also, I am posting a song here that I heard on the way home last night and the first few lines really fit with this theme.
Additionally, a fun funky diddy for balance. Enjoy!

So as usual, check your pie chart and take care of yourselves.
Love, Carrie Danger
