Danger Zone

Written by

The Danger Zone is a great feature to listen to the lastest from artists you know as well as artists you might not have heard of yet. Each night I try and pair two songs that work together, for instance tonight I'll be featuring two artists who will be dropping their new albums tomorrow, March 17th.

100 Gecs will be releasing their 2nd studio album, 10,000 Gecs

M83 is releasing their 9th studio album, Fantasy

Listen in to the DZ to hear a track from each upcoming album and see what you think!

Welcome

I know it's cliched, but.......Hello, Cleveland!

I'm Tony Mazur, the midday host and program director of 107.3 Alternative Cleveland. As everyone knows, Cleveland has a rich music history dating back to Alan Freed and the invention of the term "rock n' roll." It was also the market that broke many classic acts such as David Bowie, Rush, Roxy Music, among countless others, and they are rightfully enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. But also plenty of alternative bands made their grand debuts in Northeast Ohio, from Nine Inch Nails to the Black Keys.

At 107.3 Alternative Cleveland, we hope to continue that legacy. I grew up on the grunge and alternative artists of the 1990s, kept the rock going into the 2000s and 2010s, and have my ear on the hottest acts of today, whether they play with guitars or synthesizers. I'm a born and bred Clevelander, and I know you'll like what we have for you.

Perhaps you're wondering, "Tony, do we really need another rock station?" The answer, in my humble opinion, is YES. Alternative rock is a format that spans over three generations, and many of our artists can be heard in movies, television shows, and even commercials. A Gen-Xer can turn us on and hear tracks from R.E.M. and Beck, and a "Zoomer" will enjoy songs from twenty one pilots and AJR.

I know we're still in a pandemic, but we want to be out and about as the spring and summer move forward. We hope to see you soon at the Grog Shop, Beachland Ballroom, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, or Blossom Music Center. Come say hi, and let us know your thoughts. We won't bite (unless you pull our food bowl away).

Again, I hope you enjoy 107.3 Alternative Cleveland, and be sure to follow us on our social media pages, including Instagram and Facebook @1073AltCle.
